Commercial Equipment in Kuna
Fast, professional commercial equipment for Kuna homes and businesses.
Delivering fresh starts since 2022
Kuna's business strip along its main growth corridor turns over equipment pretty regularly — restaurants closing a location, offices relocating, retail shops swapping out fixtures for a remodel. Add in the older storefronts downtown on Main Street, and there's usually something commercial coming out of a building somewhere in town.
What's left behind in these jobs tends to be heavier and more specialized than a household clean-out: walk-in coolers, stainless prep tables, server racks, office furniture, retail fixtures bolted to the floor. Getting it off the property is only half the job. Where it goes next, and how it gets sorted on the way, matters just as much.
Where It Goes From Here
Most of what comes out of a Kuna property ends up at the Ada County Landfill at Hidden Hollow, off Seamans Gulch Road in the Boise foothills — roughly 30 miles from Kuna across the county. For a straightforward drop-off, the Meridian Transfer Station on West Franklin Road is the closer option.
Commercial equipment doesn't move through either site as one load. Equipment with Freon, like a reach-in cooler or an old walk-in unit, gets pulled aside and billed under the site's Freon-appliance fee. Stainless steel and other scrap metal gets separated out on its own, and e-waste like old POS terminals, monitors and computers goes into its own stream too.
- Accepted: trash, construction and demolition debris, yard waste, mattresses, tires (fee), Freon appliances (fee), scrap metal, clean wood, concrete, e-waste
- Not accepted: waste from outside the county, hazardous materials in the landfill itself, treated or painted wood in the diversion stream, untitled campers, trailers or boats
- Loads need to be secured and tarped before they're weighed in
- Both sites run on posted hours — worth checking ahead for an off-schedule haul
Permits Worth Checking First
If the equipment removal is tied to a remodel, a buildout, or tearing out part of a structure, Kuna's Building Department lists a Demolition Permit Application on its Forms & Applications page. It's worth a call to the department even for interior demo, since whether a permit's needed depends on what's actually coming out.
Kuna's streets fall under Ada County Highway District right-of-way, not city right-of-way. If a job needs a dumpster or container sitting in the roadway, on a sidewalk, or on the shoulder instead of parked on private property, ACHD requires a Temporary Use or Right-of-Way Permit for it. Keeping the container on the lot itself, like a parking area, is the easiest way to skip that step.
Why the City's Program Isn't Built for This
J&M Sanitation runs Kuna's curbside service, with carts for trash, recycling and yard waste, plus a scheduled large-item pickup for things that don't fit in the cart. It's a solid system for a household clearing out a garage.
A commercial job is a different kind of load. A dining room's worth of furniture, a line of kitchen equipment, or fixtures that are bolted down don't fit into a cart-based pickup, and the volume and weight usually outpace what that service is set up to handle in one visit. For an actual commercial clear-out, hiring a hauler who can look at access, weight and disposal category ahead of time is the more realistic route.
Commercial equipment removal in Kuna comes down to sorting the load correctly before it ever leaves the property — what's Freon, what's scrap, what needs a permit first — so it ends up in the right place the first time.
